Key Passing Combos: Orange=Criscito-Piatek, Blue-Lazovic-Kouame

Quick Summary
Genoa don't really bother with moving through the zones consistently, they rush the ball forward with tough passes and try to get their star forward in Piatek the ball. Defensively they have a lot of players make tackles and interceptions but opponents generate shots way too quickly for the defense to be called strong.
Player Reports
Krzystof Piatek, 23, forward
A one-man wrecking crew on offense, Piatek churns out elite shot and solid xG numbers without a high-functioning offense behind him at all. I’d tend to trust the shot numbers here as he doesn’t have many of the xG-boosting 0.5 and above shots that can drive an early season spike. In fact, 0.45 is his max so far according to Understat.

I doubt Piatek will be at Genoa long, he’s a pure shot monster and we will get a chance to see what he can do in a stronger setup before long probably.
Sandro, 29, midfielder
An example of why a high completion % is not always what you want. Sandro plays it safe, way too safe: his average pass travels 5 yards backwards.
